“Super Happy Forever,” directed by Kohei Igarashi, will be screened on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. at TCL Chinese Theatres, 6925 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood.

The screening will be co-presented by Japan House Los Angeles and the AFI Fest Film Festival, which is recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifying festival for both short film categories for the annual Academy Awards.

“Super Happy Forever” takes you on a journey alongside 20-something Sano and his best friend Miyata, who return to Atami in the Izu Peninsula, where five years ago Sano fell in love with his late wife Nagi.

Retracing his steps and memory, Sano is determined to find an item he remembers holding significant importance, seemingly chasing a past that has faded away and shuttered for good. This film playfully explores the ephemeral, intangible malleability of time.

Q&A with actors Hiroki Sano and Yoshinori Miyata will begin after the screening at 7:40 p.m.
