Chris Tashima plays Sei Fujii in “Lil Tokyo Reporter.”

A special program focusing on civil rights pioneer Sei Fujii (1882-1954) will be presented on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 2:30 p.m. at Valley Japanese Community Center, 8850 Lankershim Blvd., Sun Valley.

A screening of the award-winning short film “Lil Tokyo Reporter” and a book talk on the award-winning biography “A Rebel’s Outcry” will be followed by a panel discussion with lead actor Chris Tashima (Academy Award winner for “Visas and Virtue”) and filmmaker/publisher Jeffrey Gee Chin.

The 2012 film, which also stars Ikuma Ando, Eijiro Ozaki and Keiko Agena, takes place in the 1930s, when Fujii established The Kashu Mainichi, a daily newspaper.

Free admission. To RSVP and pre-order books, email [email protected].

Co-presented by Little Tokyo Historical Society.
